Scene 1:
-"One of the best qualities you've is that you know what you want in life"
I still remember how amazed I was to hear these words coming from someone I look up to, specially that I had absolutely no idea back then what I wanted to do with my life; actually I quite hated my whole life then because I felt like a handicapped.
Scene 2: (an interview)
-"Tell me your priorities in life?"
-"God, my family, my studies (my job when I've one), any other extracurricular activities, and finally my friends." I answered without hesitation.
I was afraid I'm might get rejected. But when I got accepted and asked why, one of the answers I got was that my priorities in life seemed very logical.
Scene 3: (not exactly a scene)
Many people who used to motivate me fall behind, they lost their way! For sometime this made me doubt the path itself. "Am I on the right track?" I used to wonder.
Then one day I was discussing with a friend of mine why do people lose their way, and I told her that maybe it's because they don't know what they want in this life!
Then it struck me; I may not know what I want to do with my life, but I'm blessed enough to know my priorities and live according to them: to make my choices and take my decision in life according to them. And that made all the difference. And as Mahatma Gandhi once said, "action expresses priorities."
It's true that I'm not yet sure of what exactly I want to do with my life, but I'm sure that I wanna be a good human-being and benefit humanity. Maybe this doesn't look like much, but it's enough for me not to lose my way inshaa' Allah.
